castigadoooosssssss!!!!!!

Un día, mis alumnos estaban intentando averiguar cómo de insondable era mi paciencia, y hete aquí que se encontraron más pronto que tarde con la triste realidad: me enfadé como una mona porque no había manera humana de traducir un texto en grupo. Sólo atendía aquél que tenía que traducir, y sólo durante las dos líneas que le tocaban a él. Así que me enfundé en mi expresión de "hoy se os acaba el mundo", y les dije, resentida, a modo de maldición: "¡Pues ahora me lo vais a traducir por escrito, para entregar antes de que se acabe la clase!". Para mi sorpresa, todos se pusieron en parejas a traducir, se preguntaban las dudas, tradujeron una cantidad importante de texto... Y ME PIDIERON POR FAVOR QUE OTRO DÍA LES DEJASE TRADUCIR ASÍ!!! Yo les decía "¡Pero si ha sido un castigo!"... Bueno, pues desde entonces mis alumnos traducen en parejas los textos del libro, les encanta, no importa el nivel del grupo, desde 1º eso a bachillerato, y me dicen que aprenden mucho. Algo parecido me pasó con la memorización de pequeños diálogos. Un éxito. Les encanta el role-play preparado. Desde entonces me pregunto por qué siempre hacen lo contrario de lo que se les manda: disfrutar con las tareas más arduas y aburridas, y aburrirse hasta bostezar con actividades lúdicas como canciones y crucigramas... Misterios de la docencia. Y enhorabuena a los alumnos, que tanto nos enseñan!!!

We talked an hour or two, 'bout every girl we knew
What all we put them through, like two old boys will do
We pondered life and death, he lit a cigarette
Said these damn things will kill me yet
But God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy

Last call was 2 a.m., I said goodbye to him
I never talked to him again

Then one sunny day, I saw the old man's face
Front page obituary, he was a millionairee
He left his fortune to some guy he barely knew
His kids were mad as hell, but me...I'm doing well
And I dropped by today, to just say thanks and pray
And I left a six-pack right there on his grave
And I said, God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy

The idea of creating a blog has proved to be absolutely successful among other English teachers!!! Many wish to share experiences about lessons, methodologies or ideas that seem to work, motivating students to speak being the main goal. However, this common space is also good for us, teachers in the mornings but human beings during the rest of the day, to talk about our hobbies, recent trips, books and movies...
Thus, don´t be afraid to enter the blog and leave a few thoughts. Don´t be afraid: Express yourself!!!
